Why it matters

  • Pulsant added HPE, HA Managed Hosting and Extraordinary Data Cloud to its partner network
  • The ecosystem bundles cloud, connectivity, data storage and IT infrastructure from one provider
  • Pulsant says more partners will join 'in the months ahead'
  • HPE recently won UK approval to acquire Juniper Networks for $14 billion
  • HPE will deliver connectivity and AI for the 2027 Ryder Cup

The story

UK data centre operator Pulsant has added three technology companies to its partner network: HPE, UK managed hosting provider HA Managed Hosting, and Edinburgh-based cloud storage specialist Extraordinary Data Cloud.

The deal matters because of what it bundles. Businesses buying through Pulsant's ecosystem get cloud, connectivity, data storage and IT infrastructure from a single relationship, rather than juggling several providers. One invoice, one throat to choke, as the channel likes to say.

Why is Pulsant widening the net now?

The company points at three pressures its customers face: growing use of AI, data security concerns, and shifting infrastructure needs. Pulsant frames the expanded ecosystem as the answer — clients tap specialist expertise in networking, cloud, security and data management, while partners get to combine capabilities and chase joint deals.

Wendy Shearer, Pulsant's Director of Partnerships and Ecosystems, was direct about the demand side. "Businesses are navigating increasing AI adoption, data sovereignty requirements and growing cyber resilience demands," she said. "As infrastructure requirements become increasingly complex, organisations need access to a broader range of specialist expertise."

Shearer also pitched the two-sided logic of the model. "The Pulsant Ecosystem creates value on both sides of the equation. Clients gain access to a trusted ecosystem of expertise spanning networking, cloud, security and data management, while partners can collaborate and combine their capabilities to solve complex challenges," she said.

She confirmed the pipeline isn't closing here. "We're excited to have HPE, HA Managed Hosting and Extraordinary Data Cloud on board as part of our growing ecosystem, and look forward to welcoming further partners in the months ahead," Shearer said.

That last line is the commercial signal. Pulsant is treating this as a rolling recruitment exercise, not a one-off announcement.

What does HPE bring to the table?

For HPE, the tie-up fits a UK strategy already crowded with headline moves. Charlie Tunley, HPE's Director of Channel & Partner Ecosystem for the UK, Ireland, Middle East and Africa, framed the partnership around workloads rather than boxes.

"Organisations are increasingly seeking secure and sovereign infrastructure platforms to support AI and data-intensive workloads. Together with Pulsant, we'll help UK businesses access the technology and expertise they need to innovate with confidence," Tunley said.

Note the vocabulary. "Sovereign" and "data-intensive" are doing the heavy lifting, and both map onto the same UK enterprise anxiety Pulsant cited: where data lives, and who can touch it.

HPE's UK momentum gives the claim some ballast. The company recently won UK regulatory approval to acquire Juniper Networks for $14 billion, clearing the way for a deal that reshapes its networking business. It has also signed on to deliver connectivity and AI for the 2027 Ryder Cup. A partner channel through Pulsant now sits alongside those larger bets.

For HA Managed Hosting and Extraordinary Data Cloud, the calculus is simpler. Both are smaller UK players gaining access to Pulsant's enterprise client base, with Extraordinary Data Cloud adding Scottish cloud storage depth to a portfolio that already spans the country.

What happens next?

The practical test arrives when joint deals start landing — ecosystem announcements are cheap, revenue is not. Shearer's promise of "further partners in the months ahead" sets the clock: expect Pulsant to keep naming names through the rest of the year.
