Why it matters

  • Batelco by Beyon signed a five-year master service agreement with Gulf Air Group, including a three-year minimum commercial commitment.
  • Beyon Solutions will modernise Gulf Air Group's ICT infrastructure at Bahrain International Airport, covering networks, storage and security.
  • A unified communications deployment will connect more than 1,000 Gulf Air employees across multiple locations.
  • No financial terms, timelines or service-level commitments were disclosed for either agreement.

The story

Batelco by Beyon has signed a five-year master service agreement with Bahrain's Gulf Air Group, carrying a three-year minimum commercial commitment, as two Beyon Group companies simultaneously deepened their hold on the aviation holding company's digital infrastructure.

The agreements, announced without financial terms, cover both the group's ICT estate at Bahrain International Airport and its broader telecommunications needs. Beyon Group, headquartered in Bahrain, is also the parent of IT consultancy Beyon Solutions, which is handling the infrastructure side of the arrangement.

What does the modernisation cover?

Beyon Solutions will modernise the critical ICT infrastructure underpinning Gulf Air Group's operations at Bahrain International Airport. The scope includes:

  • key network infrastructure upgrades
  • enterprise storage and management capabilities
  • enhanced security solutions
  • implementation and migration services

On the network side, the project encompasses upgraded switching and routing, advanced network protection, and central storage and application delivery infrastructure, alongside the management and monitoring tools needed to keep operations running.

The consultancy frames the result as a more resilient and efficient technology environment built for the operational demands of the aviation sector. No deployment timelines, throughput figures or migration milestones were disclosed, so how quickly that resilience materialises remains an open question.

What does the Batelco agreement add?

The Batelco deal establishes a long-term framework under which the operator will continue supplying Gulf Air Group with telecommunications and digital services — a continuation of an existing partnership rather than a new win from scratch.

Under the agreement, Batelco will deliver an extensive portfolio spanning fixed and mobile services, advanced networking, satellite connectivity and cloud capabilities within a single strategic framework. The announcement describes this as a "strong and resilient digital foundation" for the group's evolving requirements.

The agreement also introduces unified communications and messaging solutions. The unified communications deployment will connect more than 1,000 Gulf Air employees across multiple locations, aiming for smoother internal collaboration and improved communications with customers.

What is not being said?

Neither party disclosed contract values, revenue expectations or service-level commitments. The three-year minimum commercial commitment inside the five-year master agreement is the only structural detail that signals guaranteed spend; the remaining two years presumably depend on performance or renegotiation.

The deals also consolidate a notable concentration of Gulf Air Group's technology estate within a single Bahraini conglomerate — Beyon now supplies the group's network infrastructure, storage, security, connectivity and cloud through two subsidiaries. That simplifies procurement but ties the airline group's digital roadmap to one vendor family.

The announcement forms part of a busy stretch for Beyon Group, which also recently made news through its Solar Park business.

With the modernisation project underway and the master agreement now in force, the next test will be execution: whether Beyon Solutions can deliver the airport infrastructure upgrade and the 1,000-user unified communications rollout without disruption to Gulf Air Group's operations.
