Suriname market leader Telesur has upgraded to Cerillion's 26.1 suite, gaining AI-powered agents, TM Forum Open APIs and faster promotions, with composable self-service next.
Telecom BusinessWhy it matters
- Telesur has completed a full BSS/OSS overhaul, upgrading to Cerillion suite release 26.1
- The 26.1 release adds AI-powered agents, an expanded set of TM Forum Open APIs and the Promotions Engine for faster offer launches
- The next phase will roll out Cerillion's composable Self Service with eKYC support for customer onboarding
The story
Suriname's market-leading operator Telesur has finished a full overhaul of its BSS/OSS estate, moving to version 26.1 of Cerillion's billing and customer management suite with minimal disruption to live operations.
The upgrade puts Cerillion's Promotions Engine at the centre of Telesur's commercial toolkit. The operator can now design, configure and launch new tariffs and offers significantly faster than on its legacy stack — a direct answer to the pressure Caribbean and Latin American operators face from price competition and prepaid churn, where campaign speed often decides market share.
Version 26.1 also brings AI-powered agents, which Cerillion positions as a route to greater automation and operational efficiency for the operator's back-office teams. As with most vendor AI claims in the BSS space, the automation benefits will show up in reduced handling times and simpler workflows rather than any single measurable metric Telesur has disclosed so far.
On the integration side, the release expands support for TM Forum Open APIs, the industry-standard interfaces that reduce the cost and complexity of connecting billing, CRM and third-party systems. For a single-market operator like Telesur, that matters: fewer bespoke integrations mean faster future upgrades and a wider choice of digital partners.
Updates to Cerillion's CRM Plus module give Telesur's customer-facing teams a real-time, aggregated view of customer data drawn from across the operator's systems. Cerillion says this supports more informed interactions and shortens user training — a practical gain for a workforce transitioning off legacy tooling.
The programme is not finished. The next phase will see Telesur deploy Cerillion's new composable Self Service product, which the vendor says enables more flexible digital journeys and supports eKYC for customer onboarding. Digital identity verification is becoming a regulatory expectation across the region as governments tighten SIM registration rules, making the eKYC capability a timely addition.
Doric Ramlakhan, CEO at Telesur, said: "We now have some exciting new capabilities at our fingertips, from launching promotions much more quickly to harnessing AI and making better use of customer data. We have made this significant step forward with minimal disruption to the business."
The deal extends Cerillion's footprint in the Caribbean and Latin American region, where the UK-based vendor has been winning mid-sized operators looking to modernise without the multi-year, high-risk transformation programmes associated with the largest BSS suppliers. Neither party disclosed contract value or implementation timelines.
Telesur will now press ahead with the self-service and eKYC rollout, with the composable Self Service deployment marking the next milestone in a modernisation programme the operator says has already delivered faster promotions and better data use.
