- No purchase price or facility count has been disclosed
- Transaction remains subject to Indonesian regulatory review with no published closing timeline
The story
SM+ has agreed to acquire Princeton Digital Group's (PDG) enterprise data centre business in Indonesia, according to a Telecompaper report, in a transaction that shifts an established colocation footprint in Southeast Asia's largest economy to a new owner.
The deal covers PDG's Indonesian enterprise data centre operations — the facilities that serve corporate and cloud customers rather than the hyperscale campuses the Singapore-headquartered operator has built elsewhere in the region. Neither the purchase price nor the number of facilities transferred has been disclosed so far.
Why does Indonesia attract data centre buyers?
Indonesia has become one of the most contested data centre markets in Asia. Its population of more than 270 million, rapid cloud adoption by banks and state enterprises, and regulatory pressure to keep certain data onshore have driven sustained demand for local colocation capacity.
For SM+, the acquisition offers an immediate enterprise customer base and operational assets in a market where greenfield builds face land, power and permitting constraints. Buying an operating business shortens the time to revenue compared with constructing new facilities.
For PDG, the sale sharpens its portfolio around hyperscale and large-campus developments, where the company has concentrated investment across Asia-Pacific.
What happens next?
The transaction will be subject to Indonesian regulatory review, and the parties have not yet published a closing timeline. Further detail on price, facility count and capacity is expected as the deal moves toward completion.
