Evergent jumps TM Forum Open API cert from Silver to Gold

Evergent has climbed from Silver to Gold in TM Forum's Open API certification, adding three payment and offer APIs to a platform serving over 1 billion accounts across 180+ countries.

Why it matters

  • Evergent advanced from Silver (Q1 2026) to Gold status in TM Forum's Open API Conformance Certification on 15 October 2026.
  • Three newly certified APIs: TMF676 Payment Management, TMF620 Product Catalogue Management, TMF671 Promotion Management.
  • The company has onboarded over 1 billion user accounts across 180+ countries.
  • Named customers include Astro, AT&T, Sky, Sony Pictures and the NBA.
  • CEO Vijay Sajja said Gold status means Evergent works within operators' existing systems rather than requiring rebuilds.

The story

Evergent, a monetisation and subscriber lifecycle management specialist, has moved from Silver to Gold status in TM Forum's Open API Conformance Certification programme, barely two quarters after earning the lower tier in Q1 2026.

The upgrade, announced 15 October, follows conformance certification of three additional Open APIs: TMF676 Payment Management, TMF620 Product Catalogue Management and TMF671 Promotion Management. In plain terms, Evergent's platform can now speak a standardized industry language in three areas that touch money directly — how operators define products, run promotions and take payments.

The certification matters because it is tested, not self-declared. The TM Forum programme evaluates API implementations against standardized specifications built to improve interoperability and portability across service provider ecosystems. Evergent passed. What the announcement does not say is how many of the full Open API set the company has certified in total, or whether Platinum-level conformance is on its roadmap.

What does the vendor claim beyond the certificate?

"Operators need to act faster on new revenue and customer retention without being held back by the systems beneath them," said Vijay Sajja, Founder & CEO of Evergent. "Achieving Gold status means Evergent works within the systems operators already run, using a common industry language instead of asking anyone to rebuild around us."

Sajja added: "The next few years will belong to those who can move fast." That is a competitive claim, not a certified fact — TM Forum's programme validates interface conformance, not business outcomes such as revenue acceleration or retention gains. Evergent's marketing couples the certification with promises of "accelerated new revenues" and "enhanced subscriber relationships"; those are vendor framing rather than audited results.

The operational argument underneath is more concrete. Standardized interfaces across payments, catalogue and promotions simplify connections between Evergent's digital monetisation platform and operators' existing business support system (BSS) stacks. The stated benefit is fewer lengthy, bespoke integration projects and faster time to market for new services and tailored promotions — a claim consistent with the purpose of the Open API programme itself, though no customer case or deployment timeline accompanies it.

Who uses the platform?

Evergent says it has onboarded more than 1 billion user accounts across 180-plus countries. To size that: it is roughly one account for every eight people on the planet, though the figure spans telecommunications, pay-TV and streaming and counts accounts, not unique individuals — a household with three subscriptions would register three times.

Named customers include Astro, AT&T, Sky, Sony Pictures and the NBA. Notably, the list mixes telcos with media and sports brands, which says as much about Evergent's diversification into streaming monetisation as about its telecoms credentials.

Standards context

The TM Forum Open API programme underpins much of the industry's push toward composable BSS: operators add certified components alongside legacy systems instead of replacing them wholesale. Evergent positions its Gold status as exactly that — modernisation without a full BSS rip-and-replace, achieved through cloud-native, API-first architecture.

The company pairs that architecture with AI-enabled revenue orchestration tools for targeted promotions, churn prevention and intelligent payment retries. These are functions, not verified performance figures; no churn-reduction or recovery-rate numbers appear in the announcement.

What comes next

Evergent says it will keep investing in standards-based integration so customers can plug into open infrastructure and launch personalized offers quickly. Sajja's own framing sets the clock: the next few years, he argues, will reward operators who can move fast — a timeline the company intends to meet one certified API at a time.
