DIGI's Spanish TV Base Triples to 249,000 Subscribers
DIGI's Spanish TV base grew 176% year-on-year to over 249,000 subscribers, with the operator passing 3 million fibre customers and 8 million mobile lines.
Why it matters
- DIGI TV reached more than 249,000 subscribers in Spain, up 176% year-on-year
- The operator surpassed 3 million fibre customers and 8 million mobile lines in Spain
- The TV offer includes 120+ linear channels for €7 a month, with a VoD catalogue grown from 2,000 to over 5,000 titles since July
The story
DIGI's Spanish pay-TV customer base grew 176% year-on-year to more than 249,000 subscribers, almost tripling in twelve months and making television one of the fastest-growing segments of the Romanian-owned operator's business in Spain.
Gathered momentum is visible within 2026 itself. DIGI TV counted around 200,000 customers at the end of March, which means it added close to 50,000 subscribers in the second quarter alone. The pace matters because the service only launched in Spain in December 2024, with limited geographical availability at the outset.
Since then, DIGI has progressively widened both coverage and content. Its TV proposition now includes more than 120 linear channels for €7 a month, offered exclusively to its fibre customers. That pricing sits well below what Spain's incumbent operators charge for comparable packages, and it anchors TV to DIGI's fibre base rather than selling it as a standalone product.
The operator is also adding features traditionally associated with the larger Spanish pay-TV players. The service includes seven-day catch-up, live pause and restart. DIGI added video-on-demand this summer at no extra cost, and the catalogue has already grown from more than 2,000 titles at the July launch to over 5,000, with a target of around 10,000 titles.
Sport is the next expansion front. Subscribers can add a €3-a-month sports package that carries all LaLiga Hypermotion matches alongside other sports channels — a budget route into second-tier Spanish football, though not the top-flight LaLiga rights that keep Movistar, Orange and Vodafone at the centre of Spain's premium sports TV market.
The TV growth tracks DIGI's broader advance in Spain. The operator has now surpassed 3 million fibre customers and 8 million mobile lines, giving it the scale to bundle television into a convergent offer. Spain's operator-based pay-TV market has traditionally been dominated by the three incumbents, and DIGI's expanding subscriber base adds a fourth player to that contest.
The commercial logic is straightforward: TV strengthens retention among fibre subscribers and lifts average revenue per user without requiring DIGI to match the incumbents' content spending. The figures suggest the operator is using television precisely this way, bundling entertainment with connectivity as it challenges Spain's established telecom groups.
With the VoD catalogue targeted to reach roughly 10,000 titles and subscriber additions running at close to 50,000 per quarter, DIGI's TV operation is on course to keep scaling through the rest of 2026.
