Why it matters

  • Zain KSA deployed Nokia Deepfield Cloud Intelligence across its network covering more than 100 cities in Saudi Arabia
  • The deployment provides real-time, end-to-end visibility for faster troubleshooting and improved service assurance
  • Sultan Mohammad Alsabhan, VP of Technology Operations at Zain KSA, said the platform enables more precise performance optimisation across critical applications

The story

Zain KSA has deployed Nokia's Deepfield Cloud Intelligence across its nationwide network, with coverage spanning more than 100 cities in Saudi Arabia.

The rollout gives the operator real-time, end-to-end visibility into its network flows, which the company says will speed up troubleshooting, improve service assurance and strengthen the resilience of its digital infrastructure across the Kingdom.

The deployment arrives as data demand in Saudi Arabia accelerates, driven by video streaming, cloud services, AI workloads and emerging digital applications. Operators in the market face pressure to sustain high performance while also maintaining security and reliability — a balance that traditional monitoring tools have struggled to strike.

Nokia positions its Deepfield product line as an answer to that gap. According to the vendor, conventional monitoring tools offer limited insight into network flows and application behaviour. Deepfield correlates global internet context with large volumes of network telemetry, turning that data into contextualised, actionable intelligence designed to support proactive optimisation and data-driven decision-making.

In practical terms, Zain KSA can now monitor and ensure the performance of critical over-the-top (OTT) and cloud services across its entire network. The granular visibility into applications and services lets engineering teams identify congestion or latency issues before customers feel them — a capability the operator hopes will deliver a low-latency experience for bandwidth-sensitive services such as video streaming and cloud gaming.

"As digital demand grows in scale and complexity, network intelligence is essential to delivering consistently reliable experiences to our customers," said Sultan Mohammad Alsabhan, Vice President of Technology Operations at Zain KSA. "Integrating Nokia Deepfield Cloud Intelligence gives us deeper, real-time visibility into traffic patterns and enables more precise performance optimisation across critical applications and services, enhancing the user experience."

The deal extends a vendor relationship that already underpins Zain KSA's network operations, and it reflects a broader shift among operators: as traffic mixes shift from voice-centric to application-centric, assurance tools must operate at the level of individual services rather than aggregate network counters. Deepfield's approach — combining internet-wide context with operator telemetry — is Nokia's attempt to sell that capability as a productised platform rather than a bespoke engineering exercise.

For Zain KSA, the deployment also carries commercial weight. Saudi Arabia's telecom market is among the most competitive in the region, with operators differentiating on digital service quality as much as on coverage. Latency-sensitive applications such as cloud gaming are emerging as a battleground for premium subscribers, and the ability to detect congestion before it degrades the customer experience is a direct input into churn reduction.

Nokia, for its part, continues to lean on network intelligence and analytics software as a growth area alongside its core radio and transport businesses, targeting operators whose traffic profiles are changing faster than their legacy monitoring stacks can adapt.

Neither company disclosed the financial terms of the deployment or a phased rollout timeline. With the Deepfield platform now live across more than 100 cities, Zain KSA says it will focus on using the real-time traffic intelligence to optimise performance across its critical application portfolio as digital demand in the Kingdom continues to grow.
